STC recognized in Washington as an Example of Excelencia for dual enrollment program

Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 10.50.48 AMMcALLEN — South Texas College is being recognized in Washington Tuesday for its service to Hispanic youth in the Rio Grande Valley through early college high school programs.
The college was named an Example of Excelencia in the Associate Level by the Excelencia in Education, a non-profit aiming to identify and recognize evidence-based programs that increase higher education opportunities for Latino students in the United States.
“It really is a testament to all the hard work that South Texas College is doing to advance Latino students’ success,” said Sofia Peña, early college high school director at STC who traveled to Washington to receive the recognition.
